Preparing for the start of the Tour de Fleece, I’ve been standing at my bobbin winder, turning the crank as I empty spinning bobbins until my arm feels ready to give out.

For spinners and cycling fans, it’s an exhilarating, challenging, and gorgeous three-week event: the Tour de Fleece. Or France, for those who require two wheels.

Putting yourself out there socially, be it in person or online, can be downright scary for many of us—including me. However, thanks to my Tour de Fleece “home base” of about 50 Team Spin Off teammates, I’m declaring this my favorite Tour to date.

In any race of endurance, staying motivated is crucial to crossing the finish line.

At the close of each Tour de Fleece, I enjoy taking a few moments to reflect upon my accomplishments, both the yarns I’ve spun as well as lessons gathered during the ride itself.

Before you say that you have a day job and therefore don’t partake in spinning competitions, let me try to convince you that the Tour de Fleece is totally not a competition and instead just a whole lot of fun.
